How are you capturing the footage? If via standar MediaStudio then you are probably capturing as AVI (DV Encoder Type 1). If the quality of your original capture is poor (Blocky and Frames dropping Out) then try deragmenting your disks. If your original footage is fine and the end result (VCD or SVCD) then the potential is for a compression problem. To be honest VCD (Mpeg1) is always prone to problems (The quality and you can try and correct by tweaking the compression rate. Even then the quality will never be as good as your original AVI file. Mpeg 2 presents better compression options and you should be able to tweak the compression rate with better quality.
