Default VOB to MPEG2

Is there anyway to convert VOB files to MPEG2 the reason i want to do this is that i have some old home video footage on DVD and i need to make some more changes to it in video studio 9 however it will not let me edit VOB files and i dont have the original footage.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Yes. VOB files are essentially MPEG2 encoded video. Something like TMPGenc will do the conversion.

Howver, I would suggest you first try simply changing the extension to .mpg from .vob (assuming they are not encrypted this should work). Alternatively transcode to DV as described in the FAQ (as MPEG editing isn't recommended):

http://www.videoforums.co.uk/reviews/faq

If they are encrypted, you'll need to download DVD Decrypter

Default opppps

Ok everything seemed to be ok i followed all the instructions in the FAQ however i have just watched the video back and the sound is total out of sync with the video, by a good couple of seconds.

I defraged the HDD before starting and i had no programs running in the back ground.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

Mike
