Default Can you crop videos?

Can you crop videos like you do pictures in Photoshop so for example you can just select an area and crop it then save the video out as just that area?

Thanks

Most video editing software will do this. Usually it's nothing more than zooming in and panning so that the desired area is the only part visible. The resulting video has the same pixel dimensions. If you zoom in too far the video will be grainy and pixelated. No help for this.

Well I think I have found out how to crop it but it leaves a black border around the finished video. How do I remove this?

Hi James. Can you just let us know what software you're using? If you can, someone will let you know exactly how to do it.

As Andy says, it's hard to give specifics without knowing the software, but if you follow crusty's advice (zoom and pan), you'll get the desired effect.

I have the same problem with pinnacle stuido. I have found the crop tool but I still get the black border. How do I make the format of the video to form after my croping?

Don't crop.

Zoom.

Simple.

But if you zoom you lose some of the video on the sides.

How do the people who uploads TV-series on the internet do to get them as they do?

If you crop an image and then pull the clip bigger to fill the original area this is the same as zooming. Either way you will lose some quality, but on a web-based clip will a small amount of zooming make much difference??

I have recorded a movie with a PVR card on my computer but I want to get rid of the black borders at the top and bottom since the movie is in widescreen. So how should I do that? I dont want to zoom and either lose part of the sides of the movie or change the proportions.
