Default Audio not in Sync

Hello. This is my first post. Bear with me because I'm very new at this. It took me a while but I finally figured out how to make watchable and editable movies on my hard drive from ripped commercial DVD's. My problem is that after changing the ripped file into an MPG, the audio is way off. I've used both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Do I need to do something the the audio files?

Two other quick questions. After editing and MPG, will I need to insert chapters or will it keep the original ones? And finally, is all I need to do is change the MPG back to the original file type (I can't remember the extension) for it to be watched in a DVD player? Thanks a lot!

It does. Your hard drive is probably too slow (4200 rpm or smth, compared to 7200 rpm required in video editing).

You will most likely have to redo the menus.

VOB. And no. You have to author the DVD. But don't worry. The software you use will automatically convert your files to VOB (which is a MPEG-2 format anyway) during the process.

Tried a few more discs and nothing works. My friend told me it may be because I'm just manually changing them to a mpg file instead of using a conversion program. He says there's a program out there that changes DVD files into 700 mb or so AVI files. He couldn't remember the name. Anybody know what he's talking about? Also, he's using a lower-end laptop than mine and his works fine. Thanks again.

This is a video editing forum and I'm afraid we do not support DVD copying. I would suggest you head on over to videohelp.com
