0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | Frame capture software?
I'm looking for some software that will capture snap shots of frames from a video file at a preset interval, say one every half second and output them as jpegs or any other picture file. I remember seeing a link on this forum for some free software that will do this but I cant seem to find it now.
I want this to make some short animated GIF's from my movie files, any help is appreciated
Thanks.

My guess is that just about all NLEs will be able to do this.
I use Premiere pro and can do what you want as follows.
Add movie to timeline. Right click on movie and select the 'playback speed' option. Set this appropriately. One frame every half second would be to run the clip at something 2500% I guess. Then export the timeline as a series of stills rather than as a movie clip.
Viola! Instant timelapse!

Thanks for the advice but I dont have Premier Pro, I cant afford it :( so I use a cheaper program called Roxio Video Wave, I can capture a frame as a picture file but it wont do it for me automatically at a preset interval.
Any other suggestions?

Capture as video, then convert to an animated gif using something like Animation Shop.

Does this s/w really not have an option to speed up and/or slow down the video as it plays? Strange. Basically, all I meant was to speed up the video toa suitable speed. This will effectively play ever 15th (say) frame.
Then just export as a series of stills.
