Default can't read avi files.

ok, first off, I'm a total noob at video in general. I have a powermac G5. However, whenever i try to open an avi file, it says it doens't ahve the software for it. Any ideas what's going on? If you could give me an answer asap i would be most grateful.

avi is a very general file type. There are many diffrent codecs to it so your mac probably does not have the correct codec installed. See if you can find what codec the file is then google the codec.
