Default Windows Media Player

Just produced a widescreen video in premiere and it will not fill the whole screen on my 16:9 laptop screen, any ideas? Media player is squasing it into a 4:3 frame. V. annoying. I've tested the file on my 16:9 tv and its fine.

What settings did you use to export the movie from Premiere?

I suspect that the deal is that the resulting file is defined using square pixels. Your widescreen TV is likely as not stretching the picture out to it's 'proper' proportions.

If you exported as widescreen WMV then I'd expect WMP to cope properly.

I forgot to mention that is also makes DVD movies go into a 4:3 frame so it couldn't be the exported file. 4:3 movies fill the whole screen with black side bars but 16:9 are fitted into the same size frame with both side and top/bottom bars. V. annoying for a true 16:9 display!

what is the pixel dimensions of the exported movie - even though u may export it as 16:9 it may still put it out as 4:3.

It should be 720 x 405 which is true 16:9 ratio

Try exporting a 10 second sequence to test using the diff options.

Try answering the question. The file format is all important here. the chances are it is a format whcih simply doesn't know anything about non-aquare pixels and it is your TV doing the stretching for you as it should.

You need to know that the difference between a widescreen 16:9 DVD and a p&S 4:3 movie is not pixel dimensions but simply pixel shape.
