Dissolve Problem II I am using Vegas 5.0

Dissolve Problem II I am using Vegas 5.0

Forgewt to mention I am using Vegas 5.0
When I overlap 2 events to create a dissolve my video slow down through the dissolve. It shutters and almost looks like flash frams until it passes the dissolve. Is this normal, it cant be, or do I have something activated that I can turn off.
Thanks for your help.
Its driving me crazy!!!!
