At my college where I attend I recieved in the mail a brochure about student discount software. In it they have Avid Xpress Pro HD for $295US. I don't really know anything about the program or how much it would normally cost. Is this a pretty sweet deal? Would I be silly for passing it up?

Yippee for me!
I knew there was a reason why I'm a married 24 yr. old father who still has two more years of school left and is sufficiently alienated form most of the other people on campus!

Oh... but anyway, is Avid Xpress Pro HD good? Oh wait, I know the answer, "Download the trial version and see how you like it."
See? I'm learning!
Yippee again!

Simple answer, Yes.
Avid Express is by far the best edit suite I've ever used. I've not got time to go into the in's and out's of it right now but basicly if it's good enough for 95% of films/TV shows like (gotta love wiki)... Do some research on it, you'll soon find that it's got a learning curve but is well worth getting to grips with. Infact I've just built a fantastic new pc to run it on.
