Blue screens

Hopefully i'm in the right forum,,,,

I'm very new and using ulead video 9 (love it)
But i have seen blue screen effects in the user video section used very well...
Does anyone have a tutorial on this or know where i could go. I have looked in the help files but just can't see how i would do it or even how to start...

Experiment.

Get a large bright blue piece of cloth (the bluest you can find)

Make sure it's not shiny or glossy.

put it up somewhere. make sure you've got loads and loads of light on it.

Do things in front of the blue screen

play about with the chromakey settings in ulead video 9 (not familiar with them myself)

Then just fiddle around with it. Experimenting with stuff like this is part of the fun. Hooray!

How about when you get the same person on,in the same shot (showing Double) if that makes sense,, is that done the same sort of way,,,

I saw it in one of the users films,,very good

or is there another tutorial I've got to look at (sorry for being a pain)

Theres different ways of doing it.

1) Blue screen where you key the person onto a clip with the same person in it

2) A wipe that splits the picture down the middle so that one half is one shot of the person and the other half is another shot of the same person.

That's how I did mine.

However, you do have to be careful because you are effectively shooting the background twice as well as the subject. Big deal you might say. But if you're outside and the light changes between shots (i.e. the Sun goes behind a cloud) then you'll see the join. Also, make sure the background is static. If a tree is waving about in the breeze then make sure you mask around it.

Best to film it indoors then. Also if possible dont stop or touch the camera between the 2 shots. Try to film the second bit right after you have finished the first (without stopping) to minimize the chances of the light changing or the camera being moved.
