Default Filters and fader won't work on my clips

I'm able to capture with Premiere 5.1c by VHS-c analog on my Radeon RX800 graphics card line-in...

...but the transparency rubber bands and filters only change the image to black. Without filters or fader rubber band adjustments, the clip renders beautifully.

Also, filters and the fader rubber band work beautifully on clips I didn't capture.

I was able to build the cycling advertisement from the tutorial that came with Premiere 5.1 without problems.

This is a wall for me as I don't know what to expriment with to fix this.

Any help or ideas would very, very appreciated.

Have you rendered the timeline?

I'm confused as to whether I'm rendering or not.

Does selecting the clip in the timeline and then pulling down on Project and selecting "Render Selection" count as actually rendering ?

I really, really appreciate your help Marc.

I've never used 5.1, but you need to the select the area to be rendered by double clicking in the area just above the timeline, then moving the bar appropriately. Then render the slected area.

OK, yeah I do that.
The image plays back great, except for the parts with less opacity or filters applied.

Any other paths I should explore ?

Thanks again.
