Default My Sony HandyCam records directly to DVD – How can I import

My Sony HandyCam records directly to DVD – How can I import to movie editing software without having to capture though USB or Firewire. It seems so unnecessary. :

Have a look at Marc's take on these camcorders.

There are other threads on these boards about the same thing. I suggest you do a search - there are one or two possibilities.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll just go thru the capture process.

Sorry to hear about the recent events there in London.

Regards,

Mike

1) Put DVD in drive
2) Copy all VOB files to harddrive
3) Open up editing suite and curse editing MPEG. Close editing suite and post on forum that you can't edit properly
4) Be told to convert to DV AVI first (http://www.videoforums.co.uk/guide-faq-90.htm#9) or edit with something like Womble MPEG wizard: http://www.videoforums.co.uk/guide-edit-vob-mpeg-48.htm) or read this post http://www.videoforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4722
5) Give me kudos.

Ohhh, if only I had knew this earlier. We were trying to get footage off of a teacher's DVD handycam and onto a computer at my high school, and it was agonizingly difficult.
