Audio quality

I've just purchased an MSI Vox to capture my analogue video from Sony Camcorder to PC. While the picture quality on play back appears fine, there is distortion on the audio when someone talks or laughs loudly which does not appear on the original video tape.

I would be very grateful for any ideas as to how to improve the audio if possible.
