Default Capturing dvd scenes for music scoring

Hi,

I was wondering if there is any software that will capture video (mpeg, wmv etc) from a DVD in real-time (as it is playing)?

I am a freelance musician providing music for coporate videos, presentations etc but would like to branch out a bit, or at least test the water. So the idea is to take a section of a dvd and 'record' it to a video file that my music software can use and rescore it. Quality is not vitally important as its only for my own skill development.

I hope you guys can help me out.

Thanks a lot.
