Thread: How to prevent quality loss while editing

Hello you guys,

I got a Full HD Camcorder and I can record the videos 1080p (1920:1080), they are originally in MP4 format. Once I edit them, they always suffer from quality and fps loss (even if I set the result format as HD 1080p). I'm quite new to this whole editing thing, but are there any good programs that can prevent this from happening? Or do I have to set some options, perhaps?

I use AVS Video Editor, but I'm free to try out other programs if they'll keep the quality that my original unedited video have.

Are you fully matching the properties of the footage, not just the resolution but the bit rate. What "correction" work have you done ?

I just cut the video and add some music to it and apply a slow down effect to some scenes, nothing unusual.

The resolution matches, but the bit rate of my original video is 2000 higher than the one that AMV Video Editor offers for 1080p videos.

That is part of your problem. The bit rate is important to image quality. Do you have an option to increase it. What about experimenting with other formats. This may help you to keep the quality you are after.
