Default Which video codec for divx/xvid

Hi from greece.

I have installed recently the winavi video converter v.6.3 standard as I am interested to convert from wma to divx.

Unfortunately winavi support only one-pass video rendering so I need a very good divx/xvid codec that can render with on-pass with full quality.

Everyone is talking about divx pro 5.1/5.2 codec but I am shure that some better video codecs are available out there.

I thanking you very much in advance.

it's not a matter of winavi supporting two passes or not, it's done in the codec's settings. Use xvid though, it's free and better.

Default Xvid codec not working

Hi,

I thank you for your kind reply.

It took me just few minutes to find and instal the codec you have suggested but unfortunately wm9 cannot play the converted file !!!! strange isnt it ?

Wm9 error code is COD0111CD.

I have lame 3.92 allready installed.

One more thing rearding xvid codec
is that winavi cannot render at two-pass even if you configure the codec for two-pass rendering.

Any more help please ?

I thanking you very much in advance.

WMP's pretty rubbish, you'd probably be better off with media player classic.

Download Gspot and see what it says about the file. You might have a codec clash or something.

for 2-pass rendering, you should just do the first pass, then go back and do the second pass, and the second pass file should be the proper one. You can't play back the first pass file.

If winavi REALLY causes problems with xvid 2-pass, i'd advise you to use something better. Something that actually works properly.
