| | my mates PS2 plays some brands of DVD R (Datawrite Red, and Memorex I think I've tried successfully) but not others that are more widely supported on the players (stand-alones and X-Box) I've tried out.
But, PS2's play NTSC dvd's smoothly but in black and white!?
and X-Box's play NTSC dvd's jerkily but in colour!?

as for the xbox issue, i've chipped mine, so i don't know what the official MS software is, but using third-party software, it works perfectly.

| | ps2's play dvdr standard, but they only like decent media because the lazers are naff!
best using ritek gen 05 media for best results.
as already mentioned the ps2 doesnt play ntsc in b+w, thats just a issue on a pal tv, if u use a rgb cable, or a ntsc supported tv, all should be fine. |

Its a pain when they only release NTSC versions of surf vid's. Hopefully now he'll be able to enjoy them properly.
