audio sync

hi all.

I need to convert some tv spots for emailing from avi to mpeg1 320x240. I've downloaded tmpgenc 3.0 express. seems like its the only one that can encode to that size.

Video is fine. But the audio cuts out at the last second. Then when video goes black the remaining audio plays!

I've tried encoding to 720x480 and audio/video synch with no problem.

Any clues? Is it because my software is still on trial? Are there any other encoders i can try?

I've no idea. Why would you want to use 1mbit vcd-spec video when you'll get good xvid video at that resolution, at a third of that size/bitrate? If it's for emailling, i'll assume it's supposed to be viewed on a pc?

yes its for viewing on pc attached to html email. will xvid files play on windows media player and quicktime? most of my clients are just regular joes who have no time to download codecs. btw how do i add that xvid codec to tmpgenc? or is there a software i could download?

anyways i got it licked. used the template vcd file instead of trying to convert to non-compliant mpeg file. still wonder why it happens though.

well, some people will need to download the xvid codec, yes, but even then, with the extra download, they'll still be downloading way less than they would were it mpeg-1.

to encode to xvid, use virtualdub.
