Default Trimming a Clip in Power Director 3

Hello...I'm new to video-editing. Just a retired grandpa now into taking video on a sony camcorder of the grandchildren...so that they can laugh at themselves when they grow up. A month ago I bought Power Director 3. I would like to permanently remove selected pieces from a video clip which I captured. When I use the "trim" operation to remove an unwanted portion, the software provides a separate clip of that piece...but it is still part of the original clip/movie.
I would like to know how to remove a piece so that it is permanently excised from the original clip.

Very simple just spilt the clip where you don't want the part of the video clip and simply just delete the little bit you clipped off. Make sense?
