Sound to me like the MPEG encoder used in Power Director is "pants".

Almost as strange as a talking sponge. Wearing pants.

Default POWER DIRCTOR

Some of these problems come from burning your copy at the max speed of the dvd burner try burning your copy or master at a lower speed,

not necessarily, skycowboy.

the drive's having trouble reading the disc, but it's more likely to be a media compatibility issue.

What brands of dvdr were tried?

I tried Verbatim and Memorex. I even lowed the recording speed to the lowest it can go. The Verbatim was DVD+R and the Memorex was DVD-R. I tried everything that's typical with trouble shooting. Strange eh?

have you tried something with ritek or fuji dye? They tend to be the best, compatibility-wise.
