Best free video editing program?

I'm making a tribute video using scenes from video games that I already have stored on my computer. I'm just looking for a good free video editing program with a decent amount of features. One that is preferably easy for beginners. I have tried Windows Movie Maker and it is nice and easy to use, but it seems buggy and I can't seem to cut movies and sound at exact frames very easily. Other than that, it seems to have all the features I'll need.

If you're not going to use it for more than 30 days, most software has a fully functional 30-day trial period. Make use of that!

Either that or buy Premiere Elements. You get what you pay for.
