Default Quality on TV

I have some mpegs which look OK on my computer (19" monitor) but when I burned them to CD the quality was not as good on my TV (27" monitor). Anything I can do so they look better on my TV? These files were 640x480 and 320x240. What if I re-encode? (Using Nero 6.6 burn). I think I had quality issues with Nero a few months back, it wasn't as good as something else I had tried.

How did you burn them to CD? I assume you used Nero to transcode to VCD to play on your standalone DVD player - that being the case, you will see a drop in quality from the original.
