Default Need help converting widescreen movie to fullscreen for H320

I have an iRiver H320 and I want to convert a widescreen movie to fit on it, but not be vertically stretched. I want it to mask on top and bottom and I've been trying forever to get this to work. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you confirm whether the video is anamorphic or whether there is just black bars at the top and bottom?

Thanks for the help, but thats not it. The movie I have is already in widescreen mode with no black bars on the top and bottom. The iRiver H320 only accepts 220x176 resolution so if I convert it to that from widescreen, the movie will look really stretched vertically. Thats why I want the black bars to be added, but I dont know how to just add it without covering the movie. Thanks.

The all you have to do is to use the null transfom filter to crop the sides, then use the resize filter to get the dimensions you require. The null transform will get the shape you want, the resize will get the actual size you need.

I did what you told me, but that makes the image vertically stretched. I don't want to crop too much. I need to add top and bottom bars.

Null transform will just clip the sides to get the 4:3 shape as in your posted image above. I don't know how to add bars in VirtualDub.
