Created a DVD mpeg2 file from 6 separate .wmv clips using ArcSofts Showbiz. I've done fine with this app many times before.
The resultant file does play in Windows Media Player , but when I try to open it using Showbiz , OR Windows Moviemaker , it appears as a sound file only ?? No picture !! I have never had this happen before.
I've tried to find a "Repair" tool in XP , which I have seen before , but cant find it anywhere. (I do remember that only a limited set of programs were found there anyway, and may not be a fix.)
I have no separate install file for Showbiz , as it came with XP. (aha, my recovery discs !....but still may not find help there.)
Any thing to do with codecs perhaps? I have not made any intentional setting changes to anything , as I wouldnt know what I was doing.

There's a tool called GSPOT that can give some info on your MPEG2 files. http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=GSpot
This may help identify what's wrong with them.
