Trapcode Shine is great!
Magic Bullet is also great (judging by the freebie presets I have).
Also, not sure if it really qualifies as a plugin in the normal sense but I wouldn't want to be without the Matrox XTools - which are all the realtime transitions and effects for the RTX100. I know I'm mentioning it again but, hey, he did ask!

Wow, the Trapcode Shine looks great. $99.00 is a little much for me now, is there a similar effect in Premiere Pro or After Effects Pro?

Magic bullet has various colour treatments that can achieve a film like look. Take a look at this: http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/mbforeditors.html |

And more importantly, a bundle of the magic bullet presets are free when you register Adobe Premiere Pro online. That's where I got mine.
As for the trapcode plugin, Visit www.trapcode.com and have a look around. You can even try them out for free, which is what I did. Difficult to justify the price for the amount of use I might make of them though. Shame :(

Another tool I find indespensible (now that I have it) is Particle Illusion.
It's not strictly a plugin at the moment but it will be soon for AE.
Details at www.wondertouch.com if the web site is back up yet.
And, no, I don't work there and I'm related to the boss. I just like the tool.
