Default jerky playback help

I have just bought Adobe Premier Elements and have problems with jerky playback when I download footage from my JVC gr-d31ek dv cam corder.
I used to use Pinnacle studio 9 with the 9.3 patch and that was ok until a week ago. Now what ever program I use I still get poor sound and jerky playback.
The only thing new on my pc that I can think of is when I put on new drivers for my ATI graphics card that needed .net framework installed too.
Mt system is 2gig pentium 768 ram ati 6900 pro graphics I dont have a lot of space on three hd's approx 13 gig, I have read up and done all the things on these and other forums but to avail, Please help.

When played back through windows media player it is not as jerky!

Then I would suggest you revert to the older drivers.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there a way of removing the .net framework, i've had a quick scan at the Microsoft website but could not find any answers there.

I can'yt imagine that is the cause. Simply do a system restore to a point before the update...
