Default Movie Maker Freezes

Movie Maker II Freezes in Windows XP. It's not the divaxf.ax codec issue, or hardware acceleration. does anyone have any other reasons why this may happen? :

Have you checked out "Papa John's" website. An excellent resource for everything Windows Movie Maker: http://www.eicsoftware.com/pictures/...e-MM2/MM2.html

Yes, I have. That's why I'm asking if there are any other ideas as I have looked into those on Papa John's excellent site. By the way, I posted before about having problems getting video into my PC via firewall & it turned out I had to change the motherboard! Is MMII freezing just a part of using DV/XP and PC video editing? I am now considering going the analogue route as the picture quality isn't a patch on DV via my TV set. Any thoughts?

Capturing via DV should be lossless, so if anything you're going to see a DROP in quality through analogue capture. What are you using for DV capture? Try using DVIO (there's a link in the stick FAQ under software problems) and then viewing your captured video, or downloading a trial of Video Studio (or even Adobe Premiere!)
