I transferred video from my canon mv-750I to Sonic MyDVD
and during playback of the DVD I created I get the bottom line flickering. This does not happen when the camera is hooked up to the TV with AV cable and in play mode.
PAL mode in rec + software .
Any ideas ?
Thank you.

Is this on the PC or on the TV? If you play it on a TV, it will probably disappear (due to the what's know as the 'safe region' - or the 'the bit of screen not covered by the casing').
You can crop the bottom of your video using most Non Linear Editing (NLE) packages.

You're right. It happens on the PC only. The flickering line is past the bottom of the screen on the TV.
Is this a normal problem - It's a brand new camera. Should I return
it to the shop for a replacement ?

I believe it's normal, particulary on lower end cams. May be wrong, so I'll open that up to the rest of the forum!

Sounds like a field order problem.
As the original footage was DV PAL then ensure when you are encoding this for TV you specify "lower field first". I don't know where this setting is in your software.

Lloyd > this tends to happen on DV AVI captured directly from the camcorder on my old panasonic - so it's not even an encoding isssue in my experience... I used to just crop the layer of pixels.

I work at a large retail store so I have the liberty of checking other devices....
I will hook it up to a DVD recorder and see if it does the same while
running directly into a stand-alone device (not PC)
Will update tomorrow how things went.

You're right. it doesn't affect the DVD playback on tv because as the moderator said it is below the TV display area.
I will crop it though, just in case it is played back on tv.
thanks.
