Default Problem editing avi file

I have an avi file which I've been trying to edit using Adobe Premiere Pro Cs3. The problem is that when I import this file, the sound is missing and only the clip is imported. Then, when the clip is viewed it is extremely choppy, less than a frame per second. When I look up the properties of the clip, it reports:

Type: AVI Movie
File Size: 1.6 GB
Image Size: 1280 x 720
Pixel Depth: 1280
Frame Rate: 119.88
Total Duration: 02;10;49;03
Average Data Rate: 214 KB / second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

AVI File details:
Contains 1 video track(s) and 1 audio track(s).
Interleave: 1 : 2.88

Video track 1:
Size is 1.43G bytes (average frame = 1.75K bytes)
This movie appears to have DROPPED FRAMES
There are 2010 keyframes, 189782 delta frames.
There are 749165 empty frames.
Frame rate is 119.88 fps
Frame size is 1280 x 720
Depth is 12 bits.
Compressor: 'H264', ffdshow Video Codec

Audio track 1:
Size is 150.84M bytes
Rate is 48000 samples/sec
Sample size is 16 bits
Compatible compressor: MPEG Layer-3 Codec
Compression ratio is 1.43:1

Additional information:
Nandub v1.0rc2

I tried importing it into windows media player, just to compare results, and got a similar problem, only with the inclusion of the audio file this time.

I've played the file in VLC and various other media playing devices and had no troubles what so ever viewing it.

If anyone knows what I can do to fix this problem, I'd greatly appreciate the input.

You got this file from somewhere else? Did you download it? It is a very low quality file as I look at the data rate for both the video and audio. I doubt if there is anything you can do to fix it.

At a guess it's either a compressed mpeg or mov file and the frame rate is very high for some strange reason.

Frame rate is 119.88 fps ?
Frame size is 1280 x 720
Depth is 12 bits - only 12 bits should be 24 or 32 bits.
Compressor: 'H264', ffdshow Video Codec (possibly mpeg4 or mov? - compressed with low quality).

If any editor smoothly edits video of doubtful provenance ( my word of the week there ) it si a bonus.

Editors are not designed to edit weord stuff but really only proper video files from cameras. I ahve terrible trouble making my x tube compilations sometimes....
