DVD in USA/International

Hi all.

I have been asked to transfer a wedding video to DVD to be sent to USA where I originally recorded it in SVHS Pal.

Can DVD's recorded in UK be played in USA (or internationally) or need to be recorded in NTSC as with video tape?

My French made DVD's play ok in UK.

Advice ASAP please as I have an August 14th deadline!
