Lightbulb Sony Vegas Video Preview (How does it work lol)

Im newbie on Sony Vegas (8.0)

the question is if the preview window shall work as it does for me, which i simply that it dont play any image, just plays the sound from video-objects on the timline..when using the only play bar that exist? (at the bottom)
don't matter what videos i try

i have consulted various tutorials, but atleast i didnt find why it is like this, but im pretty un-attentive on the ohter hand

Default Preview problem

on the video preview screen, to the left of the overlays button there is drop down menu where you can select the preview quality. I had problems when it was selected for draft. When selected for preview (or anything other than draft) it worked. Hope this helps

Screengrab very useful.
Timeline would normally show images from video (I'm assuming you haven't filmed 1minute 20 of purest red)
If it happens with all video file types, head on over to Sony Creative Software support - they may have a solution or most likely send you details for a COMPLETE uninstall and reinstall.
If only certain types of video, you have a codec problem. Search the "Sony Vegas" forum on this site for "codec" for some suggestions.

Thanks that could possibly have helped some, i changed it to full, and some files now play screen, not all formats thou!
so this can allso be a codec or install issue, its hard to prof, i hade a codec pack and divx bundle 5 installed at the same time, and uninstalled the last one same time as i changed preview setting unfortentley lol

look at this research, its differnet clips i loaded in Vegas feat the most common formats and codecs, which plays and which does not play picture

Working:
DivX (4.5.6)

Pending:
Xvid MPEG4 codec
(some works, some generate this red thin offline line on video slot)

Not Working:
DivX 3 (low motion)
WMV (Not supported it says!!!!!!!?)
ASF (none supported again, to bad, when my primary edit file is ASF)

something is not installed here? (for example i have no plugins ore media mananger installed)
