Ok, sorry if I seemed impatient but it was two days longer than previous responses took and my post was almost at the bottom of the page so I figured that I should chime in again.

Yes, the files play without any problems on windows media player.

Ok, there are three listed that are in red:

DSH MPEG1System MainConcept MPEG Splitter {881EF822-7C08-4B0E-BF7D-5568E2E0879} 0x00600002 ** File Missing: C:\Program Files\Common Files\MAGIX Shared\MPEG2 Decoder\magixspmpeg.ax

DSH MPEG1Packet MainConcept MPEG Audio Decoder {881EF832-7C08-4B0E-BF7D-5568E2E08789} 0x00600000 ** File Missing: C:\Program Files\Common Files\MAGIX Shared\MPEG2 Decoder\magixdsmpeg.ax

DSH MPEG1Packet MainConcept MPEG Video Decoder {881EF842-7C08-4B0E-BF7D-5568E2E08789} 0x00600000 ** File Missing: C:\Program Files\Common Files\MAGIX Shared\MPEG2 Decoder\magixdsmpeg.ax

I think the magix that it keeps refering to must be one of the programs that I tried and removed once it didnt work. Since it is listed as missing does that mean that I will have to reinstall said program? I did a search for magix and what came up did not look familiar but if you think that that is the problem I can try and download that program again.

Much appreciated, Chad

Possibly you've had Movie Edit Pro on your machine at one time or another. First thing to do is tidy up those registry entries, although it's curious that they are both DirectShow and named as MPEG1 filters.

The program that I use is called Filmerit from here:

Filmerit

It has a "one-click fix" mode documented on the website (there's a link to the right on the above webpage).

Try rendering out a small portion of one of the problematic files - I like Womble but you may have something else you're happier with - and see if it works.

If it doesn't, download and install ffdshow from here:

SourceForge.net: ffdshow

Try the render again.

One last thing. On looking back through your posts this morning, I have only just noticed that you said these are Tivo files converted to MPEG. What s/ware did you use to convert?

I used something called direct show dump utility to convert the files. I cleaned up the errors, downloaded ffdshow, and things seem to be working better. I have noticed from the start that I have to play the video from start to finnish, I cant move the play bar say from 1 minute 25 seconds to 7 minutes and 04 seconds or it will just black out. I am not sure why that is but I just noticed that the original video is the same way although not as bad. I want to thank you again for helping me with this.

later, Chad

This is a total guess because I don't know anything DirectShow dump (or converting Tivo files either) but it's possible that the resulting file ends up "unindexed". I have had the same problem with WMV files designed for streaming from the Web but that's an easy fix to make them seekable.
