Importing VHS to Avid

Hi Guys - Nice group.

Can anyone help me with a 'little' problem I have been having with my Avid.

What I am trying to do is capture from mini VHS tapes (they got into a larger VHS tape for playin in a VHS player) in to Avid Express Pro, which I have done before with no problems. I have my VHS hooked up to a SOny DSR-11 which in turn goes to the Avid. However I am not able to capture any sound, nothing comes up on the audio levels or audio tool. I have tried all sample rate, checked all cables, tapes etc. Audio will play in my other projects but not for this. Any thoughts
