Default how do I edit my movies?

Hi there!

I've recently bought a new digital video camera with which I record on a daily basis. The thing is, I can put them on my computer and play them, but can't edit them in any editing software. The movie files are 50 fps (res: 720x576) and are mp4 files.

Does anyone know how I can edit those files? Maybe how to convert them to 25 fps files so they become easily editable?

thanks in advance!

Jimmy

What make of camcorder do you have? 50fps is twice the normal PAL frame rate are you sure that figure is correct? I'm sure if you do a search on Google or one of the other search engines you will find conversion software that will change the files from mp4 to wmv or avi. The quality may suffer in the process though. Try STOIK Video Convertor which is free.

Hey,

thanks for the reply!

I'll definately download STOIK in a minute.
The camera I'm using is a samsung vp-hmx10 which records in 50fps. I've looked everywhere, but can't find a setting in the cam itself to change the fps.

gr,
Jimmy

That 50fps threw me for a second, I went onto two websites to find out a bit more about that cam and I found out that it is listed as NTSC from the following website...

Samsung VP-HMX10 Specs, Camcorder Reviews on CNET.co.uk

Main Features

Sensor type CMOS
Effective sensor resolution 1560000 pixels
Min shutter speed 1/60 s
Max shutter speed 1/10000 s
White balance presets Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Tungsten, and Custom
Min illumination 15 lux
Analogue video format NTSC?

And the reason why it shoots at 50fps was found on this site...

Samsung VP-HMX10 High Definition Camcorder

The use of 50 frames per second progressive recording offers fantastic picture quality to be viewed upon HD ready televisions screens, perfect for fast moving footage. The HMX10 records to either SDHC or MMC+ cards, allowing direct access of the contents for other home or mobile devices. Also see how the minimum shutter speed is 1/60 rather than 1/50?
