I'm wanting to mix a bunch of videos of myself playing various instruments in a video to create a song. For example, the video would start full screen of me playing the bass line. A 2nd video would come in moments later with a beat, each video taking up half the screen. Moments later 2 more vids come in, each taking up 1/4th of the screen, and so on.

Can anyone recommend video editing software that can do this. Price isn't an issue, but ease of use is. Thanks for any advice you can offer!!

Try Sony Vegas. If you google it you should be able to find a demo. What you want is somthing called "PIP" or Picture in picture. So for this you will need a editor capable of having multiple video tracks.

You dont need to google Vegas. There's a link to the trials on our site HERE. The effect you want to achieve is relatively simple and do-able in most editors.
