Hi. Newbie here. I've just received my new Mesh PC which has a Firewire port on the front but isn't connected (wasn't in the spec but why fit it and not connect it). Anyway, I'm trying to connect my (old but great) Panasonic NV-DS65 via USB to USB, the PC sees it but can't find software for it. I don't really want to fit a Firewire card yet as it's not even a day old and they have a warranty seal sticker on the back. Can I use USB somehow?

You could.... but ultimately Mini DV needs Firewire transfer rate to be succesful. Bite the bullet, get the card fitted. They're dirt cheap and make life so much easier.
