Default what software to improve dvd

I have just taken a 50th anniversary video and tranfered it to dvd --- plays great.

I would like to adjust the contrast/brightness of the dvd i wonder if there is a simple programme i can install to do this

I am confused - you edited and produced the dvd.... er...
or
did it go direct from camera to disc ?

Surely your editor has facilities to adjust brightness - do i have the wrong end of the stick ?

Default heres what i did

just to clear things up heres what i did
shot anniversary celebration
transfered to my dvd recorder under my telly
edited out the bits i didnot want ( on dvd recorder)
i now have the annerversay on dvd which is slightly dark in places

solution required

==== simply adjust the brightness


i am sure this is possible---- hopefully all of the experts out there will not reply in the Harry Enfield style of " you shouldnt of done that"
