Question Cutting a moving object out of a video??

Does anyone know of a program that can cut a moving object out of a video??? Kind of the same thing as a keying effect but only if you don't have a green screen. I see it done all the time with hollywood, mostly in commercials. It almost seems like they have a program out there that can recognize and object in a video and cut that out. Just like this years superbowl intro, they had footage of football players from previous games but they were cut out. I know they don't do it frame by frame, it would be too tedious, there must be something out there...

Any advice would be awesome!

thanks

The easiest way to achieve this is through a technique known as rotoscoping, which basically entails drawing around the object to mask it out. It still requires some patients, but you don't need to draw every frame, as you can use keyframes to adjust the shape of the mask or matte at different points in time, to follow the object as it moves.

I do mine in Vegas. Long, tedious work, but ultimately worth it when done well.
