Default Magix Movie Edit 11 Sound Card Required (?)

Hi there - A problem from the UK!

First of all, apologies as I've seen a lot of posts about sound issues, but I couldn't find one that covered my problem.

I have extracted my camcorder mpgs onto my hard drive and then tried importing them into Magix and this has worked fine. However when I play the files in editing mode I'm not getting any sound.

Reading the troubleshooting on the software, it recommends that you have a soundblaster compatible sound card. I do not have one of these.

If I play the files through WMP I get the sound fine, so I would be surprised if a sound card would resolve the problem. Even the latest games I play seem to be okay using my MB sound system.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I suppose the issue could be to do with codecs, but I believe I have everything that I need.

My machine is.... 3.2Ghz PIV, 2GB, NVidia 6600LE, 120GB HDD, XP HOME.

Thanks a lot for any help/suggestions, apologies again if this is too vague, or been posted previously.

Achillies

It's possible that the MPEG files are ac-3 encoded. You'll need an ac-3 codec installed for MEP to recognise the audio.

Use gspot to confirm.

Google for the codec and install it and hopefully this will sort out the problem.

Thumbs up

Thanks mrsmr2,

It was indeed the ac-3 codec causing the issue. Once I knew, I got a download & installed the codec in seconds - problem resolved!

Thanks for your reply & help, hopefully this will help lots of others too.

Take care,
Achillies.
