Default Choppy DVDs

I know I kep posting alot of problems here I promise this is the last for awhile. I got a DVD burner and made a dvd out of our latest film but it turned out to be real choppy in some dvd players, but perfect in others. A friend of mine thinks its because of 'progressive scan' because it doesn't work in Sony Players, and PS2's. (A sony product) If it is progressive scan, how can I make a DVD that will be non choppy. If it's not is there a different way I should burn it or what?

If you reckon it's cos of progressive scan, simply don't de-interlace your video, i.e create an interlaced rather than progressive video.

It could be a bitrate issue, what bitrate you using?
