i have a new laptop, dell 1505, and premiere pro. for some reason i cannot get my computer to recognize the firewire port so i can capture footage. i have attempted driver updates and all and to no avail nothing happens.

i've called a few tech places too...without any real help yet.

In the Device Manager do you see a IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller? If there is no listing then you haven't got one installed on your laptop.

yes its there. i have been using this cable that has to use this converter so maybe its the converter to the firewire that is interrupting the signal? i'm not sure......

What kind of cable is it and what is the name/make or model of the 'convertor' you are using?
