MPEG2 V WP9

Hello Team,

I am a newcomer to Digital video editing.
Any comments as to which would be the best quality, fastest startup & disk space between MPEG2 v Windows Media Player 9?
I primarily want to play them in PowerPoint presentations.
I am using Premier 6.5 which does not have a WMP9 Save option. Is there a way to add this to the software?
I have looked in the Adobe web site, but there do not appear to be any clues to this issue.
I am sure Members have asked these questions before, but I could not find any in the Archives list.

well it all depends what you want to do with the output file, really, and the resolution etc. what do you want to play them on? bear in mind differing system requirements.

bit for bit, wm9 should perform better than mpeg-2.

if you want to make stuff for powerpoint presentations, then go for wm9 over mpeg-2.

not sure. i take it you've installed the whole wm9 shebang? i don't use it personally, so i dunno if it installs codecs that external packages can use.

failing that, just export it to avi (huffy, dv etc), then encode it in the wm app.

Thanks - I shall have a look at the Adobe site again for any plug ins..... I have installed everything I could.
By the way why do you think it would be better than MPEG-2?

well, at the same bitrates, assuming a high(er) quality source, divx/xvid/rv/wm should be better visually than mpeg-2, and equal at significantly lower rates.

It works!

I just have to work out which setting will be the best for PowerPoint use!

As I said I am not an expert...

Any suggestions out there ....????
