Default Best video editing software for the $

As a newcommer to the world of video editing, could anyone suggest any excellent quality software that is easy enough to learn and does a decsent editing job.

Best video editing software for the $

Mathmatically, this must be Windows Moviemaker, because it's free. Little else is.

It's pure opinion, but I think £50 for Pemiere Elements 3.0 is exceptional value, considering what the software offers.

Although more money I would suggest vegas 7+dvd, if your a student you might get a pretty good discount

For anyone running macs, and with the introduction of keyframes, I think Final Cut Express HD has to be a contender for best bang for the buck.

I'm considering changing to mac, can anyone point out what the main differences between pro and express are. From looking around all I can really see is that pro can handle more formats and that express doesn't support batch capture. This can't be all I'm sure.
