I have just recorded a family celebration on a Sony DCR-2100E camcorder. Everything fine but left the ND filter on for one of the indoor shots. Consequently the picture is darker and contains noise. Is there any reliable software out there that can improve this dramatically. I am editing it in Pinnacle Studio 10, but the noise reduction option on there is useless.

Try the noise reduction filter in virtualdub it cleans flat areas and trys to keep detail as well. open the clips in virtualdub, apply the filter and save as avi.

If the footage is to noisy there may be nothing you can do.
