can anyone please recommend a method of extracting clips from various video file formats without having to recompress and lower the quality? if possible, i'm trying to find a way to do this with mpg, avi, and wmv files. the videos have detailed images that look blurry and messy after editing them, even with the highest conversion settings possible (i even tried uncompressed).
so far i've tried video edit magic and adobe premiere pro, and neither one seems to have a way of simply extracting segments from the original file without re-encoding/compressing it and reducing the quality. i also tried a couple demo versions of splitter/joiner programs i found on download.com, but the ones i tried also seem to recompress the segments i'm trying to extract.
also, if there is anything out there that can do this and can also join several extracted segments together and create a new file without compressing or altering the quality (probably not, i know), that would be ideal.
any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
thank you!!!
mike
