0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | Sony Handycam to a Mac = Hell on Earth
Hey there.
I purchased a Sony HDR-UX1 recently and as I do all my editing on a Apple iMac G5 I am completely unable to capture video off the camera to my computer so editing has become impossible.
I found somewhere that one guy has a PC networked to his Mac and he captures to the PC and then transfers the video files to the Mac to edit (by putting them through numerous operations first).
I was wondering if there is an easier way to get the footage off my cam to my Mac
and if not
What PC would anyone recommend for simply capturing footage on so that I could then transfer it to the mac to be edited in Final Cut Pro.
or
Where to purchase a PC to do my video editing on in the future.
Thanks for any help anyone could give.

I would have thought you only needed to put the finalised camera disc into the mac and copy the files to the hdrive for editing? Doesnt this work?

NO unfortunately because the disc from the camera is the mini DVD and the side slot loading disc drive on the iMac G5 won't accept them. However I have been able to get the footage by finalizing the disc and placing it into Microsoft's Xbox HD DVD player and connecting it to the iMac.

Ah, sorry forgot about the mac size problem - glad you appear to have found workaround.
