SkullKrusher.
I don't know what your problem is, but I have had no problems what so ever editing and downloading the files downloaded from my Everio MG 21 camera.
The software is a cut down version, In my case it was unable to vary the individual audio levels on each clip, but I have discovered PowerDirector 6 is the only Cyberlink software that will handle th ac3 Digital Audio files and I am considering purchasing this.
This is the first time I have edited video files and found it to be very easy to use.

Serif may well be the best thing out there but as its an unknown - I'd steer clear of it. It does look scarily similar to Vegas Movie Studio which alsio makes me think it probably is the same thing repackaged in which case - i'd go buy vegas anyway.
Well, I am pretty much sold on the Sony Vegas software (applause), however, I am not going to throw $520+ at Vegas+DVD.

I am going to stick to one of the MovieStudios, probably the MovieStudio+DVD Platinum edition (http://http://www.sonymediasoftware....egasfamily.asp). What do you think? Yay? Nay?

Default Video Editing JVC Everio

I recently purchased a JVC GZ-HD3EK and struggled to the edit the captured video with the same software I'd used to edit my DV videos. As you said the software supplied by JVC is pretty poor. By trial an error I have found a solutiion to my problem that may help you:-
When you connect your camera via USB2 to the PC PowerCinama NE opens.
1. Select Backup / Everio_HDD then backup to C:/myworks/everiobackup.
2. Close PowerCinama.
3. Open PowerDirector Express then open File / Import / media files.
4. Select c: drive / myworks / everio backup and all susequent files until you get to the MOV files. Double click on the file you want to open. This will convert the .tod file into mpg file (example MOV00A.mpg). This will be saved in myworks.
Open your video editing program - Pinnacle 9 / Ulead VideoStudio -then open myworks folder to find the video file you wish to edit.
Once imported you can edit and burn to DVD
