Default Particle Illusion 3 Importing and effects

Hello,
I have just started using PI and I need to get a basic grasp of it quickly for a school movie project. I have a couple quick questions though. We need to make one of our characters appear to be on fire as he is the Balrog from Lord of the Rings.

How do I get our footage in to PI so I can start applying fire emitters and all that good stuff?

Also, does anyone have some good tips on how to make the fire look the best?

Thank you very much,
Kevin

It's not in front of me so exact wording and teminalogy is likely way way wrong but....

right click in the top left corner of the PI3 window. Up where you have the layers, aboive the emitters. There is an option for 'background' where you can load an image or a movie clip.

Only certain formats are allowed though.

As to making it look good... spend trime playing with all the fire emmitters you can find (which is loads)

Not having tried this exact thing I would start by trying a number of small emitters, shaped and positions over the body, each having different emitter settings (larger/smaller/longer flames etc ect).

Don't forget to add smoke as well.

From the wondertouch site there is a link (as I recall) to a PI3 specific forum. Worth a read as someone else may well have attached just this type of thing and you might get some good advice.

Ah!, Thank you so much.
That worked perfectly, and the wondertouch forums are really helpful.

Thank you
Kevin
