Default Problems with MiniDV

I just got a brand new video camera for christmas, it uses miniDV tapes, when I watch the tapes on the video camera the quality of video is great, but when I upload it to ANY video software programs, the video and audio speed up slightly and there is skips in the video, PLEASE HELP!

How are you uploading ? USB or Firewire, you must use firewire.
