when i load the video, at a certain point the audio begins to fall behind or go ahead of the video, and quite frankly im sure its a simple problem, but i am new at all this, im a screenwriter and actor, but im in a corner so im stepping up to editing. So can anyone help, also i have adobe premiere, perhaps its better?

How did you capture your video, was it using Firewire or USB? Out of those two choices it should only have been Firewire and not USB. Firewire gives the highest picture and sound quality in the one cable and most editing software is designed to handle it. What spec is your computer, give a rundown in your next post, is it a laptop or desktop model? Personally, I would never use a laptop for video work unless it was specifically built for the purpose, video needs an awful lot of resources and one kick ass system. Haven't used Vegas in ages, so maygbe you need to put this post on the Vegas specific forum and you should get more answers there, I haven't looked yet so if it is there my apologies.
